SUMMARY:August 2020 Book Club
DESCRIPTION:The August 18 Book Club over ZOOM will feature\nSave Me the Plums :  My Gourmet Memoir by Ruth Reichl.\n\nThe book has been described in Vanity Fair as “A delicious insider account of the gritty\, glamorous world of food culture.”  It also includes some recipes.\n\nCopies in different formats are available in the Erie County Library System. Many of the libraries are now open for curbside service or for entrance\, and the book reservation system is now available.\n\nPlease register in advance to receive the Zoom Link: https://cornell.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYsc-6ppz0qGNJ6dn5JxykkbkIasCLOzTid\n\nBook Summary:\n\n“When Condé Nast offered Ruth Reichl the top position at America’s oldest epicurean magazine\, she declined. She was a writer\, not a manager\, and had no inclination to be anyone’s boss. Yet Reichl had been reading Gourmet since she was eight; it had inspired her career. How could she say no? This is the story of a former Berkeley hippie entering the corporate world and worrying about losing her soul. It is the story of the moment restaurants became an important part of popular culture\, a time when the rise of the farm-to-table movement changed\, forever\, the way we eat.”\nShare this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)
