Buffalo Museum of Science Tour!

Why? 
It may be the greatest question of all. Why? It’s born of wonder and curiosity. Why? It makes us think and makes us better. Why? It moves us forward. Join us at the Buffalo Museum of Science and explore WHY!

Join us Saturday, April 13th at 11am. Adults, children, and friends of alumni are all welcome at this guided tour of the Marvelous Earth, Explore You, and Artifacts Studio exhibits. After the guided tour, enjoy your packed lunch in the reserved room with the alumni club. The rest of the museum is yours to explore!

The $9 ticket price includes admission into the entire museum (including the Art of the Brick exhibit) and guided tour. Adult/child tickets are the same price – ticket price cannot be used in conjunction with BMS membership.

Children ages 2 and up need a ticket to attend. Limited to 20 attendees

You’re Invited to the Annual Marotto’s Soiree

You are cordially invited to the Marotto’s Soiree, a winter social at one of our favorite Cornellian owned restaurants. Our host, Mark Marotto ’82, has arranged the following menu:

—sliced-marinated roast pork tenderloin with a honey sesame seed glaze
—house smoked rainbow trout
—penne with broccoli florets and roasted red peppers, garlic and oil
—baked clams casino
—antipasti, sharp cheese
—bruschetta bread

Marotto’s Restaurant is in Kenmore, meet us there on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Registration is encouraged in advance for $15 per person and includes the above menu. The Cornell Cocktail (as documented in the Old Mr. Boston bartender’s guide) will be available – cash bar.

Walk-ins will be accommodated at $25 per person.

New Year’s Resolution? Read More!

Since 2010, the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo has sponsored a book club whereby area Cornellians and their friends can gather on a monthly basis to read, discuss, and dine their way through great works of literature. The reading list has included Nobel Prize winners, Cornellians, Buffalo-based authors spanning the range from fiction and non-fiction, illustrated books and short stories.

Interested in joining the Club’s book club?

Join us January 15th at the home of Catherine March ’14 and Matthew Nagowski ’05 where we’ll discuss Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You.

All are welcome at Book Club – this is often a great time of year for a resolution to read more often, or to bring a friend to Book Club.

Matthew Nagowski ’05 Receives NYS Hometown Alumni Award

On December 7th, alumni and Cornellians from WNY gathered at the Market Arcade building to celebrate Matthew Nagowski ’05, past president of the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo, as he received the NYS Hometown Alumni Award.

Cornell, community partners help drive Buffalo’s revival

From research to hands on development, Cornell University has been a big part of the Buffalo community–from revitalizing housing communities on the West Side to cultivating research on urban farming to enhance the availability healthy local food.

This week, Cornell published a feature package about transformative work by community groups and Cornell in Buffalo to help achieve smart, sustainable, grassroots growth in neighborhoods throughout the city. It is a great story to showcase all of Cornell’s incredible efforts in Buffalo!
