Support our Community by Dropping-Off Items During a Week-Long Donation Drive
Join the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo in giving back to the community by donating home essentials to the Matt Urban Center to help provide a welcoming environment to previously homeless individuals. The Matt Urban Center is named in honor of Matt Urban, a Buffalo-born Cornell grad (’41) and decorated war veteran. The Matt Urban Center’s mission is to provide programs that revitalize neighborhoods, serve families, and change lives.
Donation Drive Details (Drop-off at 1081 Broadway, Buffalo, NY between 4/19-4/23, 8:30am-4:30pm)
The current focus for volunteer/donate from home projects is “Welcome Packages” for the Center’s clients in Housing First and Rapid Re-Housing programs, who are coming to the center from situations of homelessness. Some of them are placed in Matt Urban Center properties and some are scattered throughout the city of Buffalo; the common thread is not having much to start a new home. The welcome baskets are a nice way of providing some housewarming essentials to help these individuals get started in their new apartments.
Below is a list of items below that are often
needed by clients at move-in time. Donors are to decide which items they
would like to include in their packages – we realize it’s a long list and
want to be mindful of cost. Some folks have filled a laundry basket, tote, or
wastebasket with items. Others have just dropped them off in a box – it’s up to
you! Any donation is greatly appreciated regardless of size or quantity of
items.
