Sept 9th – Putting Away Summer with CCoGB- friends and family mini golf

As the summer draws to a close we’d like to celebrate with mini golf and arcade fun at Adventure Landing in Tonawanda, NY. Join us Saturday, September 9th at 2 pm for a round of 9, 18 or 36 and maybe squeeze in some pinball or Ms Pacman! Friends and family are welcome – price includes 3 hours of unlimited miniature golf and 20 arcade tokens. Stay for one round or a whole afternoon of fun!

Sept 19th – Book Club gathering – The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

7:00 PM at the home of Chris Rockwell in Williamsville, Sept 19thShe has selected a humorous book, The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.

Confined to a nursing home and about to turn 100, Allan Karlsson, who has a larger-than-life back story as an explosives expert, climbs out of the window in his slippers and embarks on an unforgettable adventure involving thugs, a murderous elephant and a very friendly hot dog stand operator.” There are many copies of the book in the Buffalo and Erie County library system.

Hike the Niagara Gorge Railway Trail

The Great Gorge Railway was completed in 1895 to serve visitors to the Falls. Today the former railway bed serves as the trail on which we will be walking from the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center to the Whirlpool Rapids. See Trail #4 on the map. The trail is 1.1 miles (2.2 miles round trip), is rated as ‘Easy’, and the slope is listed as gentle. Plan to walk about 1.5 to 2 hours.

DAY/DATE/TIME: Saturday October 7, Meet by 9:30 am
GATHER/MEET at the Hiking Trails Information booth, the small building with the restrooms about 50 feet east from the entrance doors of Discovery Center.

Take me out to the ballgame!

What could be better than an evening of baseball, racing mascots, hot dogs and fireworks in downtown Buffalo?! The Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo will be attending the Buffalo Bisons game on Friday, August 18th to watch the Herd take on the Gwinnett Braves of Georgia.  Game time is 7:05 pm and this is the last Friday Night Bash of the season.  Our seating block will be in a great location behind home plate. Families and friends of Cornellians are welcome. Ticket quantities are limited so get them early!

An Evening of Theater – Shakespeare in Delaware Park

Macbeth

Join the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo on Wednesday August 2 for an evening of theater as we gather to see Shakespeare’s Macbeth. As the second of the Shakespeare in Delaware Park shows this season, Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. The performance will begin at 7:30pm, however plan to arrive between 6-6:30pm if you would like to join other club members in picnicking before the show. The club will not be providing any food, however all attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drink to enjoy.

Where: Delaware Park – Hoyt Lake behind the Rose Garden, off Lincoln Parkway near the Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Time: Show begins at 7:30pm, and it is recommended by the SDP organization that attendees show up approximately 30 mins early if possible

Hike at Reinstein Woods – June 17

On June 17, 2017, the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo plans to hike at Reinstein Woods. Weather permitting, we will meet at 10 am at the parking area located at 93 Honorine Drive, Depew, NY 14043. Plan to hike for about 90 to 120 minutes.

Family Fun at Kelkenberg Farm of Clarence – May 20

Please join us for a morning of family fun at Kelkenberg Farm of Clarence, owned and operated by Cornellians Patrick and Charlene Spoth. There will be pony and hay rides, as well as the opportunity to interact with many of the baby animals that will be born this spring. We’ll have space for a picnic and the Cornell Club of Buffalo will provide some light snacks/treats. Please plan to bring your own lunch/picnic fare.
